This very limited edition is available in a number of colours, mounted on a collectable backing card featuring an illustration of the aircraft and information about the particular airframe on the back. The pin-badge is made from authentic aircraft skin featuring the original British Airways paint and includes a sprung locking pin back, for an extra secure fixing. The badge is 18mm across.
G-CIVF entered British Airways service in 1995 and flew with the airline for the next 25 years. VF was one of many 747s removed from service during 2020, when the pandemic forced airlines to reconsider their fleet sizes. At that moment, BA decided to bring forward the retirement of its remaining 747-400s, and VF was one of the casualties of this decision. VF wore the airline's popular Landor livery upon entry into service, and for a time carried the name "City of St Albans. Later, it took on the Chatham Dockyard scheme which was applied to the whole fleet after the move away from the troubled Utpoia/World Liveries worn by BA aircraft at the turn of the 21st Century. Retirement was swift in 2020 for VF; the aircraft had undergone the major "D Check" overhaul in 2018, which would have allowed it to fly for several years longer, but in the end its final flight took it from storage in Cardiff to the scrapper's yard and Cornwall's Newquay Airport.
VF (Edition 4) joins G-CIVG (Edition 1) and G-CIVY (Edition 3) in the Aviapin range, and will be followed by further releases from other BA 747 airframes.
Please note that due to the active life of the fuselage skin from which these pieces are made, there can be some variation in colour and finish. Some have scratches on the paintwork, but these are not faults; they are evidence of the millions of miles flown by this aircraft through freezing rain and baking sun.
