PRE-WW1 90th Winnipeg Rifles Officer’s Greatcoat ATTRIBUTED MANITOBA LT. GOVERNOR

Offered here is a beautiful and rare 90th Winnipeg Rifles Officer’s Greatcoat circa 1910. Attributed to (future Manitoba Lt. Governor) James Albert Manning Aikins, who served as Honourary Lieutenant Colonel of the regiment in 1910.
He was later appointed the honourary Colonel of the 99th Regiment in 1911. He was a lawyer, and first president of the Canadian Bar Association. He was also a politician and ran for Premier but lost. He was the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba from 1916 to 1926. He passed away in 1929 at the age of 77.
The Greatcoat is quality made by Hobson & Sons London. The greatcoat sports King’s crown rifle regiment buttons. The clothing label has since fallen off from the coat (see "IMPORTANT NOTE" for more details). It is named to Lt Col J A M Aikins. The greatcoat is in amazing condition and is only missing one button on the back.
Overall a really awesome and rare piece attributed to a prominent Manitoba man. I have never seen another greatcoat to this unit, and never to a rifle unit in general. Very rare piece.

The tag for this coat has since been misplaced since the taking of these photos. I had it in storage along with files pertaining to Aikins. I do not know where the tag is currently, but I am 99.9% sure I still have it somewhere. As I am in the process of moving, it is very possible I will find it again in the near future. If you buy this coat, you have my word and written agreement here that I will send you the tag at a later date at my own expense should I find it. The coat 100% belonged to Aikins, you can see the black thread stitching elements in the photos provided at the time. The picture of the tag was taken when I acquired the coat from Winnipeg's Marway Militaria in 2018 and was in storage since then. About a year ago, I required the file folder they were in urgently and had them moved elsewhere - but now I do not know where they are. This is 100% his coat, but you must know prior to the sale that I cannot guarantee the tag as coming with the greatcoat, nor when I may find it. As I said though, if you buy this - I will keep your name and address down and will contact you and send you the tag at my own expense should it be located. All things considered, the price for this piece is still fair for a period Canadian militia 90th Rifles Officer's Greatcoat at this time, and the provenance is an added bonus. Provenance or not, I have never seen another rifle officer's greatcoat from this time period like this.
