You are offerding on a large collection of material belonging to Theo Stephen Jewett, a lifelong resident of Laconia. Jewett was born into a prominent local family in 1891, attended Laconia Grammar School and graduated from Laconia HS in 1908. He went on to nearby Dartmouth College, graduating with the Class of 1913.
Since much of the Laconia HS material in this lot dates to the years he was at Dartmouth, it is clear that he returned home quite often and attended numerous social events. The two lead photos show this clearly; Jewett has a copy of the actual photo printedin the newspaper article about the Laconia HSJunior Prom Play. His photo is actually a photo postcard, and Alice Brockington, one of the stars of the play, has written on the back \"…we are glad that the Dartmouth boys, present at our prom, were pleased with our little play.\"
After college graduation he returned to Laconia to practice law with his father. His family photo album is now part of the collection of the Laconia Library.
The collection includes one of his high school report cards, many tally cards, prom tickets, and invitations to numerous other social events. There\'s an Elks Lodge event, a Red Tag Day for the Laconia Home for the Aged, and even a 1910 billhead receipt from the lake City Steam Laundry.
Most of this material came out of Mr. Jewett\'s very large Dartmouth scrapbook, the remainder of which is being sold as lot184285159377.
