I own an advertising specialty company - now in our 45th year I am happy to report - and worked in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm.
Over the years I collected many over-run samples, one-or-a-kind spec samples and the like.I am now offering much of that collection via . Among our suppliers of better quality writing instruments was Ritepoint Pen Company. Here is a salesman's sample of one of their triangular pens from 1986 featuring the famous Boeing logo.
A big advantage of the Ritepoint triangular pen was that it offers three different imprint sides available for copy. In this example, as you can see:* Side one has the Boeing logo.* Side two has the slogan - "Safety Pays In '86"..* Side three has Ritepoint sales information that includes the item number.
So apparently Ritepoint printed these samples just for salesman - or to be politically correct - salesperson - use. Therefore I assume the quantity run was relatively small. Frankly, that aspect should enhance the value to a collector of air line memorabilia. And it was manufactured in the U.S.A.
Ritepoint was a franchisedline, meaning it was sold only through a select group of distributors. I am proud to say we were among that relatively small group.
Althoughthe sample is probably over 35 years old, it is in outstanding condition as shown. Of course the instruments still contain original refill, so no longer functional. If used rather than displayed, a replacement refill is needed - which is readilyavailable. What a find - especially in this condition!
