Description Up for sale are two vintage Bal á Versailles Le Parfum de Jour by Jean Deprez.  They are both 1 fl oz, however, one is full and the other has about 1/8 of the fragrance remaining.

This fragrance was introduced in 1962.  It is considered amber.  When it was released, it was made to chronicle the Chateau de Versailles.  This palace was located a few miles west of Paris and held many balls and court sessions in the seventeenth century.  However, during this time, baths were not a common occurrence, and so perfumes were used to cover up body odor.  (As such, the distinct smells at parties during this time was sweat mixed with floral and rancid or musty stench along with a sweet powder.)  Based on this last sentence, the fragrance was made to be heavily animalic accented with natural civet.  But the dry down smells like a mellow, powdery-gentle and comforting skin scent.  Due to age, I am not sure if these fragrances will smell like a new bottle off the shelf and so they are not guaranteed.

Top notes:  Bergamot, lemon, mandarin, neroli
Heart notes:  Rose de Mai, lily of the valley, lilac, orris, jasmine, ylang-ylang
Base notes:  Cedarwood, sandalwood, vanilla, benzoin, melilot (sweet clover), tolu balsam

• Bottle has the name of the fragrance in gold foil on the top of the plastic screw cap. 
• The bottle is clear crystal, with a black script on the center bottle front to identify the maker and where it was made.
• About 1/8 of the fragrance remains.  Since the screw cap is frozen (it will not open, I don’t know what it smells like, and fragrance is not guaranteed.
• The square glass foot is in good condition.  The underside reads in a white font:

  • The neck label is a gold foil in good condition.
• Height of the bottle is:  about 5 5/8 inches tall.

 
Full Bottle of Perfume

• Bottle plastic screw cap is plain, with no label on it.  It is frozen, that is I cannot open the bottle.
• The bottle is clear crystal, with a black script on the center bottle front to identify the maker and where it was made.
• The bottle is in good condition until you get to the glass foot.  The foot has an internal chip to the left corner.  You cannot feel it, but you can see it.  It is about ¼ inch. 
• The bottle is full of parfum.  I have no idea what it smells like since the screw cap is frozen, hence the fragrance is not guaranteed.
• There is also gold cording wrapped around the neck which has been undone.
• The square glass foot reads on the polished  underside in a white font:

• Height of the bottle is:  about 5 7/8 inches tall
