The presented saber is a faithful replica of the saber traditionally attributed to King Stefan Batory of Poland, who reigned in the years 1576-1586. He was the husband of Queen Anna Jagiellonka and the author of many reforms modernizing the Polish army. He created the so-called chosen infantry (composed of peasants), reorganized the cavalry, artillery, military engineering and navy. It was also famous for joining the Republic of Livonia as a result of the Polish-Russian war (1577-1582).

Stefan Batory's saber is one of the most beautiful specimens of the Hungarian type saber. It was made around 1560. It was stored in Dresden for many years. In 1928, it was donated to the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw by the Viennese antiquarian Szymon Szwarc, who bought it at a sale.

Eastern type blade, slightly curved with a distinct feather finish (double-sided blade). On the amphibians two furrows. The blade is decorated with engraved circles and short ribbons one after the other with two carved dots on the sides of each ribbon.

Open handle with a typically Hungarian character. Very long (28 cm), golden cross guard and mustache. The crossguard is decorated with a floral ornament. The pommel of the handle is slightly protruding forward, decorated with motifs of scales with grooves. The shaft of the handle is covered with black leather and intertwined with golden thread.

The scabbard is richly decorated, covered with black leather, equipped with beautiful golden fittings in the form of a neck with windows for the upper mustache, two ribs made of double rings with movable rings and a decorative shoe reinforced along the length of the point with a strip on the side of the blade.
