VINTAGE ORIGINAL PHILCO FORD RMP-B POST BOOST VEHICLE DESK MODEL BY W.J. HYATT

I bought this at an estatesale. Unfortunately someone had passed and I could not get any provenance on this piece. Not sure exactly what this is, but I\'ve pasted some info from the internet below all the pictures. The model is well made and other than some white marks on it, it\'s in excellent condition for it\'s age (I did not try to clean it but I bet those white marks can be removed without harm). I believe this is from the 1960\'s and may be exactly from 1967, based on some info I found while doing research. The model spins on the metal shaft-I tried pulling it off but it didn\'t come, but I bet it is made to slip off, I just didn\'t want to force it. It has all it\'s parts-nothing missing or broken. The brass plaque and wood stand are in fine shape. The plaque reads: \"RMP-B POST BOOST VEHICLE Philco-Ford - Space & Re Entry Systems Division\". Label on bottom reads: W.J. HYATT INC 7316 VARNA AVE. NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA 91605 PHONE 982-0270 DISPLAY MODEL MANUFACTURERS\".The wood base measures 7\"x3 1/8\". The vehicle is 6.25\"x3 1/8\" and stands 6\" tall. There are 19 pictures to look through. Selling as is. Thanks!

GREAT ITEM, GREAT COLLECTIBLE!

Copied from the internet (not sure this info is fully or at all associated with this vehicle-I would appreciate any information you have): ABRES (Advanced Ballistic Reentry Systems) was a long running program that encompassed about 70 Atlas launches. These were used to develop new ICBM reentry vehicles and decoys, and to continue ABM testing, including tracking system testing. Launches began from Cape Canaveral, but soon settled on the Vandenberg AFB 576 A and B complexes, which included six launch pads. During the mid 1960s these were among the busiest launch pads in the U.S.. The program was substantial. Most launches aimed toward Kwajalein, but a few went toward Johnston or Wake Islands. The Narwhal-like SBGRV vehicles were distinctive, topped by long, 2,000 pound RVs built by Douglas that used flaps and gas jets to maneuver. Ford-Philco developed the Trident post-boost bus, which used dual-thrust solid motors, to launch numerous RMP-B (Reentry Measurements Program) missions and which apparently tested MIRV techniques. HIRS was used on some missions. Maneuverable RVs were tested. Some of this stuff is still cloaked in mystery, since it developed pointy-nosed, stealthy RVs for Minuteman and Trident and other missiles....The color of the nose suggests an ablative type heat shield and the shape resembles the Discoverer and Corona reentry vehicles. This spacecraft has a small primary propulsion engine and six thruster quads strangely oriented 45° off the traditional X, Y, & Z axises.
