This is ONE original WW2 Army / Marine Corps jungle food bag.
***Some of the markings may be very faded or blurry than others or off center from age and storage. Some markings are on the bottom (see last photo) There may be small indentations from the snap pressing against the bag above it when it was tied in the bundle (See last 2 photos )***
These are new-old-stock from a still-tied bundle of 10 (See photos, for example)
The bag measures approx. 8" x 11 1/2"

Very nice example of Protex Products Co., Jersey City, New Jersey production of Bag, Food, Waterproof, Jungle. Protex awarded at least two contracts, listed in the “Alphabetic Listing of Major War Supply Contracts”, published (1946?) by the Civilian Production Administration, this document providing a cumulative list of major contracts awarded above $50,000 between June 1940 and September 1945, for contract described as “BAGS FOOD” and one listed as “WATERPROOF FOOD BAGS”, which given the vagaries of the War Supply Contracts is undoubtedly one in the same. Many more of these bags supplied by a roster of contractors under small purchase orders under $10,000, which were not reported and listed as “major” war supply contracts.
