Here we have a very early example of a Michigan chauffeurs badge dating back to 1911. As this was the infancy of the automobile it would have been a rarity for someone to have a vehicle let alone a chauffeur. During this time period only around 500,000 automobiles existed in the United States so the number of vehicles in the state of Michigan would have been significantly lower.
