The 1954 reprint captures the final years before the railroads began to curtail service in earnest or to get out of passenger service altogether. Trains like the Broadway Limited and the 20th Century Limited still bragged about the number of sleepers and even the Boston & Maine ran named varnish to Portland. Maine and Halifax, N.S. 1536 pages printed on acid-free paper, perfect-bound.
