Hobby Master Douglas DC4 Qantas Airlines "Hong Kong Trader" 1:200 Scale RARE:
$119.95

The Douglas DC-4 is a four piston engine propeller driven airliner manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Military versions of this aircraft were the C-54 for the United States Air Force and R5D for the United States Navy. This aircraft provided service during World War 2, the Berlin Airlift and into the 1960's. From 1945, it provided service with many civil airlines around the world.
Qantas Airways Limited is the flag carrier of Australia and the country's largest airline. It was founded on 16 November 1920. The airline has 124 aircraft providing passenger service. The Douglas DC-4 began service with Qantas in 1949 with two DC-4's. Qantas is an acronym for the airline's original name, Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services. The airline has it's headquarters in Mascot, a suburb of Sydney and close to the Sydney International Airport.
This aircraft with registration "VH-EBL" had a very colorful history. It began its service life with Trans Australia Airlines on 22 October 1946. It was sold to Qantas on 15 February 1949, where it provided service until January of 1961 when it was sold to Ansett Australia. It went through three more owners, ending up with Suldwes Lugdiens, an African airline, in 1972 where it provided service until it was eventually scrapped (how sad). This model, the "Hong Kong Trader", operated passenger and freight flights between Australia and Hong Kong, Japan in the post-war years and was the last DC-4 to visit Hong Kong.
This Hobby Master 1:200 die cast reproduction of the Qantas Airways Douglas DC-4 is a rare, highly detailed, historical model. It is an assembled model and can be displayed in the ground configuration with supplied landing gear, or in flight. It has highly detailed razor sharp Qantas graphics from the 1950's. It comes with a display stand. The box has slight shelf wear. All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only.
NOTE: This is a rare historical model at an exceptional cost. It will be a welcome addition to any prop lovers collection or any aviation enthusiast's collection. The flightline personnel in the photographs is for show only. This is the only one available.
