First, I have found that photographing crystal of such high-qualitycut and clarity is a bit like trying to take a picture of air.
I have also had a hard time putting together an encompassing descriptionof this work of art andscience. I can say that I have put in many hours of searching for the maker or place where these were made without success. After scouring through any source of obeliskknowledge or sales I have found only three of these and have been on a constant search for more in hope of finding additional information beyond the knowledge that I acquired. This one from an estate sale in Miami Beach Florida. The understanding I have is that they were purchased around 1980 but I have no confirmationof that. Another I bought from an estate on Long Island and beyond this I know nothing about it other than the incredible masterpiece it has proven to be.
The countless facets and the clarity of the glass composition used in this item makes it seem alive at times. I am completely fascinated and inspired by the workmanshipand talent invested into this work of art. Every angle, even the corners have been carved into facets. I worked and learned in a jewelry store for four years while in high school. That knowledge served me well as along with being taught goldsmithing, ring sizing, finishing and most all parts of this business I also completed and passed the GIA certification course. I am seeing the work of a highly talented artist equalingthat of a diamond cutters eye and hand.The obeliskis located in an interior room in the photographs. I am facing into my studio on several of them,and it is reflecting from behind me drawing light through the next room and across the street producing an image of my cross-street neighbors home and on to beyond! As you walk by it twinkles, sparkles and creates rainbows which can really uplift your mood any time of day. I have three I\'m selling this one to help pay for the others.
