Bonanza began in 1945 and was one of the 13 government
sponsored local service carriers of the 50\'s and 60\'s.
These airlines were heavily subsidized to provide
access for smaller cities to large city airports.
Bonanza was the first all jet powered airline in the U.S.
Bonanza began in 1945 merged with West Coast Airlines
and Pacific Airlines in 1968 and became AirWest.
Later named was changed to Hughes AirWest with new ownership.
Acquired by Republic Airlines (combined Southern Airways
and North Central Airlines) in 1980.
Later yet Republic was acquired by Northwest Airlines.
Today Bonanza is port of Delta Airlines history.
