Handsomelarge-format fold-out 1955 Carter Oil Company road map of part of thenorthwestern United States, printed more than 62 years ago.

The map opens to a verygenerous 33½" x24" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography bythe General Drafting Company.
The coverage area includes Montana,Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and parts of North and South Dakota,Nebraska, Washington, and Utah, or the territory the map defines as"Carterland."
On the reverse side there is a pictorial guide to the region, and arelief map of the entire United States.
The map was distributed by the Carter Oil Company, a marketing arm ofJersey Standard, in 1955 and is dated by the code number in the lowermargin: 455W.
