1920s Art Deco George Jones Crescent China Tete a Tete Set 8 Pieces Gilded Patt For Sale

Very attractive George Jones Crescent China hand decorated tete a tete set dating from c 1920s. This 8 piece set features a two cup size or bachelor's size teapot, a milk jug, sugar bowl, two cups and saucers and one side plate - there would originally have been two but one is missing.

All pieces are marked on the base with the black printed George Jones and Sons Crescent China mark. There is also a Unicorn mark with the word Uni underneath. The mark was used between 1924 and 1951 and I would date this set to the 1920s or early 1930s. There is a painted number, 27361 on the teapot.

The set is hand gilded with an attractive geometric design featuring lozenges with a band of diamond shapes in between. Inside each lozenge is a stylised leaf or tree type design. The handles of the teapot, jug and cups are gilded as is the ornate floral type knop to the teapot lid.

This is a good quality set by a renowned and collected maker and is very decorative - suitable for display or use. It is in very good condition and appears to be unused or have had very little use. There is a very faint, short hairline near the base of the teapot and there is some glaze crazing and a tight hairline to the plate. It weighs 1082g unpacked.
