Vtg US Air Force Rascal Bell Aircraft Air-to-Surface Missile Desk Model 1:32 1958
This is a 1:32 scale very rare desktop model of the the Rascal (GAM-63),a U.S. Air Force air-to-surface missile designed to destroy enemy air defense installations. Carrying either a conventional or nuclear warhead and with a range of 75 miles, the Rascal was deployed on Strategic Air Command B-47 bombers from 1957-1959. It was replaced by the Hound Dog air-to-surface missile which had a much greater range. Bell Aircraft built and donated this model in 1958.RASCAL "Crew Saver" in white lettering on both sides of the black nose cone.
The only other one I've seen was donated to the National Air and Space Museum by the Rascal manufacturer Bell Aircraft in 1958.From the National Air and Space Museum: "Missile with black warhead, neon red body, and yellow tail. Air Force roundels on both sides of body. Metal attachment mounted on the underside underside to a wood stand."
It has some what looks like adhesive residue (but not sticky) on one side (see photos) but still shows very well.
Bell also built the Glamorous Glennis USAF Rocket aircraft X-plane for Chuck Yeager which was thefirst piloted airplane to exceed the speed of sound in level flight.Shipped quickly and very carefully the day payment is received
