The Short Curved Saber or Couteau of the Cadet of theMilitary Aviation School of the Argentine Air Forceis the symbol of command and began to be used in 1947.
It is a replica of the curved saber of General José de San Martín.
Manufactured by different military arsenals.
The scabbard is metallic. It has a metallic and bronzed toecap and mouth, which press in and are secured with a screw. It also has two fastening rings, also bronzed and held by small screws.
The steel blade on its right side is acid etched and reads "General José de San Martín".
The guard with the falcons are metallic and bronzed.
The grip has black plastic scales, attached with a through screw and have a hollow brass rivet to pass the portepee through.
A tan edging runs along the entire hilt giving a better finish, hiding the tang of the blade and making it fit the scales.
The measurements are:
Total length 570 mm.
Blade length 450 mm.
Sheet width 20 mm.
Sheet thickness 3 mm.
Handle length 100 mm.
It is in very good condition.
