Bellsouth was one of the original seven Regional Bell Operating Companies formed in 1984, after the Department of Justice's antitrust suit the same year forced AT & T to divest from its local phone services. Ceasing to do business under the Bellsouth name in 2007, Bellsouth was the last of the original seven Regional Bell Operating Companies to keep its original corporate name, and the last one to keep the Bell logo as part of its corporate identity.
This is a beautiful, historic, vintage stock certificate, Number ZQ 80925316, from Bellsouth Corporation issued on April 9, 1984 - the same year that A T & T was ordered to break up and the same year the seven Regional Bell Operating Companies were formed. This historic document, issued on the heels of the Regional's formation, was printed by the American Bank Note Company and bears an ornate border and a vignette of an allegorical woman as the company logo. This certificate bears the printed signatures of the company's Chairman of the Board and its Treasurer.
Symbolic of the government's antitrust efforts, this 22 Share Certificate, suitable for framing, is in very good vintage condition, as shown.Folds from original mailing.
