Very Rare 1874 Ticket To Cinderilla (Cinderella).:
$49.00

This is a very rare original ticket issued to see the play Cinderilla (Cinderella) on October 29, 1874, for the benefit of The Industrial School.

Very few tickets, prior to Walt Disney, to see Cinderella exist. Prior to the invention of Movies and Television, if you wanted to see Cinderella, you had to attend a play.

3-3/4" x 2-1/4"

The back is signed Hattie Mcgraw, Hamilton Canida. (Misspelled?)

The ticket spells Cinderella "Cinderilla". Not a common spelling, but Cinderella was spelled Cinderilla sometimes as evidenced in a book published in 1820: THE SUPRISING ADVENTURES OF CINDERILLA, by J.Kendrew

After hours of research, my theory on this ticket is that it was signed by the ticket holder, Hattie McGraw, with the location of the play, Hamilton Canida (Canada).

Education wasn't compulsory , so misspelling was common place, and sometimes words were just spelled differently.  At that time, Hamilton had a large Irish population, and industrial schools were used for delinquent kids and in some areas for indigenous children. Proceeds from the ticket sales went to support The Industrial School. Whether the school was for juvenile delinquents or indigenous children at that time is unknown.

Of course, Hattie McGraw could have signed the name of her chaperone or date, Hamilton Canida, on the back of the ticket along with her name, but it is doubtful. The ticket was most likely meant to be kept as a souvenir.

The ticket has been framed. However, you can easily remove the ticket if needed.

The ticket has wear, but in remarkable shape.

Please see all photos as they are part of the item description.
