Gawain Edward Pendray was one of the earliest liquid-fuel rocket experimenters. A co-founder and the second President of the American Interplanetary Society, he designed, built and launched the society\'s first rockets, along with Alfred Africano and others, aided by pointers passed along by Willy Ley of the German Rocket Society. Pendray was still President of the AIS when it was renamed the American Rocket Society in 1934 and he would still be active when the ARS merged into the AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) in 1963. One of the guiding lights in the history of rocketry and space travel, and the author of several books, Pendray\'s autograph is unusually rare. This is a Skylab 1 postal cachet signed \"G Edward Pendray,\" with an eight cent US Flag stamp, postmarked July 13 1973 JAMAICA NY, where Pendray lived with his wife, Lee Gregory, the first female rocketeer!
