RARE 1928 BREMEN FLIERS PROGRAM for the Boston festivities and parade for the FIRST TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT. This was an incredible event and achievement at the time and the Bremen pilots were welcomed as heroes.

The Bremen fliers were Captain Hermann Koehl (Germany), Major James C. Fitzmaurice (Irish free state) and Baron Ehrenfried Guenther von Huenefeld (Germany).

The festivities held by the City of Boston took place under the direction of Mayor Malcolm E. Nichols on Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 18, 19 and 20 1928 at Boston Common, Boston Arena and Fenway Park.

The Bremen fliers were such a big deal that huge celebrations and parades were held across the country, including a massive parade in New York City.

This was the first non-stop westward trans-Atlanticflight - they began at Baldonnel Airdrome (near Dublin, Ireland) at 5:38 AM on Thurs. April 12, 1928 and landed 36 hours later at Greenely Island, Quebec (off the southern coast of Labrador) at 5:35 PM on April 13, 1928.

The Bremen was a German Junkers W 33 aircraft. An all-German attempt was made previously, but had to be abandoned due to bad weather. Fitzmaurice had made a previous attempt, but it was also abandoned due to weather issues.

ORIGINAL BREMEN program - not a reproduction or reprint

Measures approx 9.25x 6 inches.

High quality glossy paper in stunning condition. Covers are high quality textured stock. There is some minor use/handling wear from the period (use in 1928 at the festivities) and slight age/shelf wear that is barely noticeable. I put this as it was printed and used approx. 92 years ago.

20 pages + front and back cover
