This model features excellent attention to detail, closely creating a true to scale version of it\'s real life counterpart - accomplished through the use of high quality materials and craftsmanship.

The aircraft that this model is of, G-VAIR, was one of Virgin Atlantic\'s fleet of A340-300\'s, based from Heathrow and operating primarily on Virgin\'s Asia/Pacific routes, having joined the fleet in April 1997. The aircraft, following in the long established Virgin tradition, was named Maiden Tokyo.

G-VAIR left the Virgin fleet in 2014 and operated briefly for Al-Naser Airlines, before joining Mahan Air in 2015 where the aircraft - now with the registration EP-MMD - is still listed as part of the Mahan fleet, although has been in storage since 2023

Virgin Atlantic:

Founded in 1984 and drawing inspiration from the then recently defunct Laker airlines, Virgin Atlantic has been a staple of British airports for nearly 40 years. During that time the airline\'s styled itself as the spiritual Flag Carrier for the UK - closely competing with rival British Airways.

Virgin has always sought to bring the fun back to the airline industry and they have become well known for their quirky and innovative flight experiences through the years. In a offer to make travel more economically and environmentally friendly, Virgin\'s been an active driver to developing a sustainable biofuel for aviation.

Airbus A340-300:

Designed by Airbus the A340, and the similar A330 family, where produced as successor fleets to the original A300 and designed to compliment the long-haul market with the A340 designed to provide additional range over the A330.

The A340-300 was the longer of the original two variants, the other being the -200, which featured a reduced range in favour of increased capacity. With four engines, rather than the two of the A330, the A340 sought to utilise the belief at the time that four engine aircraft were better than two - with some airlines adopting this as a marketing campaign.

The -300 was the most successful variant of the A340 programme with 218 airframes delivered, with Lufthansa operating the largest fleet. In recent years, many airlines have removed the A340 from their fleet in favour of more economical twin jet aircraft like the B787, A330neo & A350.
