RARE! 1966 Reagan for Governor BBQ kit. RARE!!!!!.
In 1965 Ronald Reagan made the decision to run for governor of California. It eventually came down to a race between him and incumbent Pat Brown. The group of people working for Reagan were called the Reagan Team. (They even held an \"Old Fashioned Western BBQ\" lunch during the 44th Anniversary of the 1966 Original Reagan Team Reunion Summer of 2010)With less than one month to Election Day, the Reagan Team was having a Reagan Team BBQ which was televised from the Reagan Family ranch in Malibu. In conjunction, the campaign distributed BBQ kits for events to be held on October 16, 1966 to coincide with the televised BBQ. I assume this one was in Southern California since it was organized at the Los Angeles REAGAN FOR GOVERNOR COMMITTEE office where there was someone who was BBQ CHAIRMAN.
This kit consists of:1 (one) BBQ cook\'s hat - brown paper printed in blue with Reagan\'s picture and REAGAN TEAM BAR-B-QUE OCT. 16, 1966.1 (one) BBQ cook\'s bib - brown paper printed in blue with Reagan\'s picture and REAGAN TEAM BAR-B-QUE OCT. 16, 1966.17 paper place mats - white paper w/ blue ink REAGAN TEAM BAR-B-QUE OCTOBER 16, 1966 w/ various depictions of Western images.7 paper napkins - white paper w/ blue ink REAGAN TEAM BAR-B-QUE OCTOBER 16, 1966 w/ various depictions of Western images14 Styrofoam cups white printed in blue with Reagan OCT. 16, 1966 REAGAN TEAM BAR-B-QUE2 organization sheets - These sheets seem to be for organizing the event.
There is wear and staining to some items which is to be expected in paper items this old.
- The cook\'s hat shows slight wear (pictured)- The cook\'s bib has a crack (pictured)- Three of the place mats have brown staining and are slightly curled(pictured)- One of the napkins has a brown stain- The two organization sheets are heavily stained with a brown stain (BBQ grease? pictured)- The Styrofoam cups, being Styrofoam, are in fine shape.I\'ve seen the Styrofoam cups offered up but never a grouping like this. The original kit had 20 place settings.
