Beautiful round military aircraft inspection cover here but I have no idea who made it or what the application is for.
That said, here\'s a description... one round, beautifully built aluminum inspection cover as built for a 4.75 inch opening. The overall cap diameter is 5 7/16\" inch round. The panel is held to the airframe via 4 latch bars that are rotated by use of a recessed steel slotted screw in the panel.
Exceptionally well built. All of the inner panel work and support structure is riveted and recessed so the outer panel itself is flush. There\'s a little keeper tab on the inside of the panel for either a safety chain or safety wire to secure the panel to the airframe once removed so it won\'t get lost. Bar stock is about half-inch inside the panel for securing once screw is turned. Panel is designed to recess into airframe about one-half inch.
Beautiful chromate. No part numbers inside to determine who made it. I see a couple of faint inspection stamps. Don\'t know if this was intended for fixed-wing airplane or helo use. Great retro-rod or custom build project use for aviation type component installation.
Simple little panel but lots of busy work to it.
