The Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing is an American biplane with an atypical negative wing stagger (the lower wing is farther forward that the upper wing). It first flew in 1932. It flew in the private sector and also with the United States Army Air Force. A total of 785 were manufactured between 1933 and 1949. The D17S was the most manufactured variant with 67 civilian and 412 military models manufactured.
This Staggerwing NC19494, was purchased by Texaco in October, 1941, this beautiful Beechcraft D17S Staggerwing was a five seat, equal span, single bay aircraft. It was driven by a powerful 450 horsepower, nine cylinder radial, air-cooled Pratt & Whitney Wasp Jr. engine. The plane\'s nickname \"Staggerwing\", comes from its trademark, sleek back-staggered wings.
This Ertl Collectibles Beechcraft Staggerwing is a rare, detailed, difficult to find model. It is a heavy die cast model with rolling tires and a rotating propeller.
