WWII NORDEN BOMBSIGHT w/ X-1 REFLEX SIGHT WITH EXCELLENT DOCUMENTATION AND TACH:
$6500.00

Here is a very rare Norden bombsight M9B with the X-1 reflexlens. The X-1 versions are late WorldWar 2 bombsights and were used in bombing Japan thorough the Korean War.It was made by Victor Adding Machine. In addition to having the X-1 lens this has the maintenance logcalled Data Book. It was was overhauled onJune 20, 1957. Most of the time you seethese log books with dates from the early 50’s, so this is much later. I can only suspect because this was a latermodel that it was used post World War 2 and perhaps stayed in an aircraft usedin Korea. In addition to that since theData Books are rare but not impossible to find this has two more pieces ofdocumentation.

This was sent to the Rock Island Arsenal and logged in accordingto the sticker on the side on February 16, 1961. Rock Island Arsenal is still in existence today. The yellow tag indicates it was inspected inMarch of 1962. This is absolutely thelatest date I have ever seen in relationship to a bombsight. If you are going to have a Norden to displaywhy not have one with this much documentation.

In addition to all the documentation, this sale comeswith some other pieces of information. The first is the Bombardiers’ Information File. This is a real one from 1945 and is not themore common CD copy. These are fairlyrare and hard to find. Also is a copy ofa Newsweek article from 1963 showing that when these were considered surplusthat you could buy them for $24.50 even though they cost over $12,000 (over$200,000 today) to make. There is also acopy of a photo of the bombsight with the back showing the newspaper it waspublished in. I have also included aJaeger Tachometer that is used to calibrate bombsights.
