Loading Guiness on the Liffey, Dublin

Commissioned by Guinness in Dublin this painting isa smartquayside railway scene, captured so well by Terence Cuneo.

Here the peculiar little tank engine almost looks like a barrel of Guinness herself. To reach the quay the little trains ran under the road. The strongly receding diagonals are a most effective compositional device and in the left background can be glimpsed some of the very attractive Georgian houses flanking the river Liffey.

Lovelyreproductionin an A4 (30 x 21 cm. or 11.7 x 8.3 inch) size frame.
