Good Knife!
Well, I was on the fence for a while on this knife. I own most of the Becker line and wasn't sure about the stick tang, being that it's not as tough as a full tang and all the hype that goes with it. I personally don't beat my knives through knotty logs, I have a hatchet for that. Not saying I won't given the right circumstances. I think this warthog will make a swell camp knife, pancake flipper, shovel and on those rare occasions when you come across the random ping pong table deep in the woods...a great paddle... alright got those out of the way and down to the serious business... Great fit and finish, good balance and uniform grind lines. Handle is generous and fits my 3xl paw well with a nice solid pommel. Out of the box, hair shaving sharp! Warthog does it all.
I bought the warthog at the same time I ordered an Ontario Rat-7. Watched several videos showing how the Rat-7 performed and the warthog performed as well or better at these same tasks. Has a well designed handle that is very comfortable in the hand and eliminates hand fatigue when used for extended periods. The large blade shape is unusual but this blade works well for campsite and bushcrafting.I bought the warthog at the same time I ordered an Ontario Rat-7. The knife is big and ready to take on what you throw it’s way. Not overall heavy but substantial nonetheless. Shipping was fast. One issue but not a deal breaker, the box the knife actually is packed in was a mess. The flap on one end was torn apart and it looks as though someone tried to use tape to keep it together. This did not work. The rest of the box appeared crushed probably due to the weight of the knife and the tape not keeping the box secured. One heck of a knife! You can cut tent stakes with it then pound them in the ground with it. Splitting fire wood (batoning) would be a snap! Thickness of the blade is unreal and the handle is perfect. Great knife.
