The Boeing 707 is an American long range narrow body airliner. It was the first commercial jet airliner developed and manufactured by the Boeing Company. The initial Boeing 707 first flew on 20 December 1957. It was the first jet airliner to be used widespread and is often credited with beginning the jet age. The 707-300 series aircraft was heavier and had a longer range that the 707-100 and 707-200 series aircraft. It had a larger wing and had a fuselage stretch of eight feet. It was powered by Pratt and Whitney JT4A Turbojets. It first entered service with Pan American Airlines on 26 October 1958. A total of 865 Boeing 707's were manufactured through 1967.
Pan American World Airways was the principle and largest international air carrier and unofficial overseas flag carrier of the United States for much of the twentieth century. It was founded on 14 March 1927 and ceased operations on 04 December 1991. The airline had 136 Boeing 707's and 720's in service from 1958 to 1991.
This Pan American Boeing 707-321B with registration number N451PA had its maiden flight on 07 February 1966. It was delivered to Pan Am on 15 February 1966. It flew with Pan Am until November of 1978 when it was sold to another carrier. It ended its service life and was purchased and turned in a restaurant at the Hotel del Rancho in Paraguay, South America in 2017.
