Rare Vintage WWI Davenport-Brown Curtis JN6H \"Jenny\" Wood Aircraft Propeller:

This is a wood aircraft propeller built in early 1918 by the Davenport-Brown Co of Somerville, MA. Unlike other Curtiss \"Jenny\" propellers that were made for the Curtiss engine, these propellers were made for the Spanish Hispano-Suiza engine to be installed in the newer Curtiss JN-6H. Davenport-Brown had received a contract for 300 of this particular type of propeller but shortly after the production began, the order was canceled by the US government. The total number of completed propellers is not known. There was , at the time, another company making this propeller as well, the American Propeller and Manufacturing Co, but the fact that the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum has one of these in their collection and along with this one, makes only 2 of the Davenport-Brown propellers that I have been able to locate over the years, seemingly making it a rare piece of aviation history.
This is a wood propeller with leather tips that are in great shape. This propeller has never been mounted on an airplane or on any wall for display. There is 2 small grooves or notches on the trailing edge of one of the blades. The Propeller is 8\' 4\" from tip to tip and 7 1/2 \" deep at the hub. This piece of American aviation history will look great displayed in any aviation lovers room, office or collection and will be a conversation starter for certain due to it\'s size, beauty and rarity.
