OVERHAULED 1929 WRIGHT J6-7 (R760) RADIAL AIRCRAFT ENGINE FOR WACO, TRAVEL AIR:
$43750.00

This is a very early 225 hp. WrightJ6-7 radial aircraft engine, also identified as a R-760 (no dash no.). The J6-7 was designed as a replacement forthe earlier Wright J-5 and was used on many Golden Age aircraft of the late1920s and early 1930s. This particularengine was manufactured on October 18, 1929, three months after the first J6-7was built and only eleven days before the stock market crashed, beginning theGreat Depression. That makes this verylikely the earliest J6-7 still in existence.

The engine was overhauled tofactory new standards by Radial Engines, Ltd. in July of this year. That overhaul included fresh Nuchromecylinders, overhauled magnetos, ignition harness, and an overhauledcarburetor. The engine was test run 5.0hours and comes with logs from 1938, build up sheets, and a FAA 8130-3 form. It has also been preserved for long termstorage.

The engine comes with aserviceable exhaust dishpan and exhaust collector with pipes (the exhaust needsminor repair). The engine stand does notcome with the engine. This J6-7 runsvery well and would be the perfect engine for a very original Waco Taperwing/Straightwing,early Cabin Waco, Stinson or Travel Air restoration.
