A C&NW Chicago & Northwestern Railroad butter pat in the \"Flambeau\" pattern. This butter pat has no top mark nor backstamp. It does have the hallmark of the maker, Shenango China. I believe the N 9 refers to a date code of 1951 if that helps. This can be seen in the photos. The overall condition is near mint, as there are few scratches in the glaze. The glaze does have some minor raised spots. There is one black speck outside the mustard pinstripe. I have tried to remove it, but it appears as though it is under the glaze. Please look at the photo of the backstamp. There is a small fleck on the bottom of the ring the butter pat sits on. This appears as rust in the last photo. The \"Flambeau\" pattern was made for the \"400\" Streamliner and the service plates have the train pictured in the food well. This butter pat has the 5 pinstripes as described in the reference book by Dick Luckin. The outer pinstripe is mustard, with 3 inner pinstripes of red and the innermost pinstripe is mustard. The book states the pinstripes are gold rather than mustard. I will let you be the judge. All of the pinstripes are under the glaze.Compliment your place setting with this butter pat.
