Thelma Weld joined American Airlines on March 13, 1934 and was one of the first twelve stewardesses to fly for the airline.
\"Stewardess Weld first started flying on the old Ford tri-motored transports, she served on Condors before the modern Douglas Flagships were put into service, so that she has watched from a close vantage point the remarkable growth of commercial aviation. Since March, 1934, when Miss Weld joined American, she has piled up over a million miles in the air - equal to a year and a half of continuous flying time.\"
