.gif) QuickGOTO for FSX v.
1.0 keeps a database of the most frequently
used departure locations (gates, parkings
or runways), so it will be no longer
necessary to search for the airport through
Flight Simulator Airport/Facilities directory
and to move the aircraft to the correct
departure point each time: just select the
desired location from QuickGOTO and the
airplane will be instantly moved there by the
software. It is recommended to disable FSX's
"Show opening screen"
(Options->Settings->General) in order to
get the most from this add-on. By Luciano

.jpg) Mesh terrain scenery
for the whole continental South America, based
on SRTM 90m dem geotiff files (at:
ftp://ftp.glcf.umiacs.umd.edu/glcf/SRTM/Degree_Tiles/), resampled
to 76 meter of horizontal resolution (LOD 9).
The new files have improved the vertical
resolution from 16m to 10m, resulting in more
details and accuracy over previous versions.
There are 50 files, compatible with FS 9 and
FSX, identified in a map by column letter and
line number, covering the contiguous
countries and states. Boundaries: N = 0º 0' S; S
= 5º 37.5' S; E = 41º 15' W; W = 48º 45' W;

.gif) Tips and Tricks
Number 23 - Fall 2006 Issue. After an all too
brief Summer Vacation, Tips and Tricks is back
with a wide assortment of helpful information
and ideas. This issue includes an important
warning for anyone who may try the FSX Demo from
Microsoft. The "From the E-mail Bag Department"
answers several interesting questions and you
will find an extensive review of the Kai Tak
(Hong Kong) airport circa 1998. Rounding out
this issue are links to several fine websites,
reviews of scenery, aircraft and utilities plus
a surprise or two has been thrown in for good
measure. Hopefully you will find something of
value whether you are a newbie or long time
simmer. An updated index for the entire series
by John Burford is included. Please unzip (using
folders option) to a temporary folder. Compiled
in pdf format for your flying enjoyment by David
"Opa" Marshall.

.jpg) Robert's Landing,
08RL, is in Connecticut at the same location as
08CT, Seavair's Landing. This will require your
favorite amphibian aircraft. Both ID's will
place you there. 08CT will be in the middle of
the lake. You will turn 350°appx and taxi over
to the landing. 08RL will place you at the shore
line...perhaps a bit easier. The 0 in 08rl is a
zero, not a letter. 08RLwill bring up Robert's
Landing as the name of the location.
There is a VOR at Freq. 116.50
There should be no problems with frame
rates. However, I broke this scenery up into
four parts so you can remove parts of the
scenery if there are any problems. Libraries
1-4, & 15 are in seavair.bgl, 5,6,7 are in
Seavair2.bgl, 8,9,10 are in seavair3.bgl.
11,12,13,14 are in seavair4.bgl, at least that's
pretty close. The AFCAD file
(af2_08rl.bgl) will pose no problem concerning
duplicate af2 files. The traffic file
contains two boats, which cruise around the
lake. To use this file you need to get
ai_ships.zip and ai_shipx.zip at Avsim.com.
Follow the author's instructions.
CREDITS To all the authors of the
libraries I used I thank you for making them
available for all of us to use freely. To
EZ-scenery for a wonderful program. To RWY12
for the fine libraries and program. To Lee
Swordy for AFCAD... indispensable! And
finally to David 'OPA' Marshall for his
wonderful help and time. This scenery is almost
as much his as mine for the help in the traffic
file, afcad adjustments, and for just plain
putting up with my questions and goof-ups! A
true mentor. Bob
