MAAM-SIM FS9 B-25J "Pacific
Prowler"
This is a repaint only for
the MAAM-SIM FS9 B-25J 'Briefing
Time'.
History: "Pacific Prowler" USAF
VB-25N
B-25J s/n 44-30823 started its’
career on March 1, 1945 as an AAF trainer. In
1949 it was reassigned as a VIP transport and
became a VB-25J where it served in that capacity
until it was landed gear up in 1958. It was
purchased as salvage for only $855 by Wenatchee
Air Services of Wenatchee, WA and was repaired
and converted to an air tanker. Then in 1962
Tallmantz Aviation bought it and had a custom
camera nose built for use in film making where
it was used to make over 80 films including
“Catch 22” in 1969. It was sold in 1986 to
Universal Aviation and was the primary camera
ship to make the film “Memphis Belle”. It
changed hands 3 more times and the nose was
converted back to it’s original look as a “J”
model. It is currently privately owned and now
flies as “Pacific Prowler”, with a polished
aluminum look. The original “Pacific Prowler”
flew with the 5th Air Force out of New Guinea
over 120 missions.
